The old joke goes that any Jewish holiday can be reduced to this:
“…they tried to destroy us, but we overcame. And now let’s eat.”
This is why Thanksgiving is the only echt (real) Jewish holiday in America or anywhere else. Think: there are no 07/04 parades with fireworks, no church service, no countdown to Auld Lang Syne, no nothing… There’s just this – immoderate consumption. Till you hurt. So – dig in!
